Who we are, who and what we love and what we stand for? In the Deep Talk «SELF», moderator and activist Marah Rikli meets musician Naomi Lareine for a personal conversation about music and identity, queerness and visibility, mental health and life in the public eye. Naomi Lareine is one of the defining voices of Swiss R&B. Her music speaks of love and desire, of closeness and self-realisation, self-determination and finding one's own place. What can art and music do when words sometimes fail us in life? How does a personal experience become music? And how does it change a person when suddenly many others listen and share their opinions? Marah Rikli and Naomi Lareine explore together what visibility in the small and larger sense does to us: What happens when you publicly speak about who you are and who you love? How does queerness shape Naomi's music and her view of the world? How does she deal with media attributions and expectations? When does she want to be loud, and what makes her feel unheard? The Deep Talk is not a classical panel discussion, but a personal space for thinking and experiencing—one's own perception, kinship, community and connection, makes the invisible visible and allows for vulnerability. more info
