Snyder US, 2025, 92', OV/d Librarians raise their voices against censorship and defend the right to free information. Since 2021, attempts to remove books from libraries in the US have massively increased. School libraries and public libraries alike face pressure from well-organized campaigns citing child protection. In the crosshairs are titles on sex education, sexual orientation and identity, as well as African American history, racism, diversity and equality. THE LIBRARIANS portrays librarians, parents and other activists who stand up, despite threats, intimidation and in some cases even criminalization. After the screening, there will be a discussion with writer Usama Al Shahani and moderator and expert on children's and young adult literature Claudia Sackl. Included in the ticket is an alcohol-free welcome drink from RamRam Bar. A woman who is still demonstrating for peace at 100 years old. Librarians fighting for the right to read. A girl who won't be deported. As part of Let's Doc and our series on democracy, we present five documentaries about people who want a different future.
