Do not walk into the grass with bare feet; my garden is full of shards.» This touching quote comes from Finnish-Swedish lyricist Edith Södergran (1892–1923). Her poems and especially their musical settings shape the concert «Stimmungen». It leads through a music programme with songs performed a cappella and with piano accompaniment, whose texts come from Södergran and other significant writers in Finland's cultural history. The texts contain expressive and symbolist undertones, with nature often playing a significant role as a mirror of inner states. The music is sung in Finnish and Finnish-Swedish and comes mainly from Nordic composers, including Sibelius, Madetoja and Liimola. The new generation is presented by Cecilia Damström and Silvan Loher, a Swiss composer based in Oslo and connoisseur of Edith Södergran's literature. His song cycles with texts by Södergran experience their Swiss premiere at the concert «Stimmungen». The singers of the Voce Ensemble for Vocal Art and pianist Stefka Perifanova introduce the rich Finnish vocal music and the Nordic nature, where their singing meets the sounds of animal horns, played by Balthasar Streiff. Composer Silvan Loher will witness the Swiss premiere of his works on site and give the audience insights into his creative work. Before the concert, a convivial "Meet & Greet the Artists" invites you to personal exchange with the musicians in the modern atmosphere of the Reformed Church Leimbach in Zurich. Welcome!
