I'm here now." Muddi Johanna, the Holy Johanna of the Slaughterhouses, Jeanne d'Arc, Johanna of Orleans has stepped out of the pages of Bertolt Brecht's book and is ready to save the animals, the world, everything. But save it from what exactly? Decidedly diverse in their glampunk attitude, three performers dedicate themselves to Özlem Özgül Dündar's new interpretation of Brecht's Saint Joan of the Stockyards. In the intimacy of a Tiny Desk Performance, they invoke Saint Johanna, the martyr – only she can save the animals and the rest of the world on this evening. And so she rises from the letters of the book onto the boards of the stage. Musically, she raises her voice, responds to the lament of the cattle with her own songs as well as ever new short stories and leads the fight against exploitation.
