Date: Thursday, 12 November 2026, 18:30, followed by aperitif from 20:00 Location: Quartierzentrum Bäckeranlage, Hohlstrasse 67, 8004 Zurich Admission: collection, no registration required Legal and practical obstacles can delay family reunification for years or even prevent it entirely, especially in the context of flight and asylum. This is shown by past and current expert reports from the Swiss Asylum and Foreigners' Law Observatory (SBAA). What do these barriers look like in concrete terms? What are their consequences for affected individuals, their health and their social participation? And most importantly: How can years-long family separations be prevented? Freiplatzaktion Zurich and the SBAA address these questions at a joint panel. Three experts who work closely with affected people and their families in their daily work share their practical experience. They shed light on the legal, practical and psychosocial challenges of family reunification and discuss what changes are needed so that the right to family is not just on paper. On the panel: Käthi Hermann, lawyer, Family Reunification Helpdesk SRK Daniela Gossweiler, psychotherapist, Psychological Counselling and Support AOZ Vanessa König, lawyer, Freiplatzaktion Zurich Moderation: Lars Scheppach, Programme Director «Publications and Advocacy» SBAA.
